Space Shooter
Project 2 tutorial played out to completion, with a couple of minor personal touches. (They are very minor, though, since it's just a tutorial-finished project for now. Things like "used a drop shadow instead of an outline on the game over text's custom material.")
Proposed modifications:
- Rewrite player + camera scripts so the game functions as a Gradius-style auto-scrolling SHMUP.
- Create new progression system, taking new play style into account. Probably something simple like a designated level-end zone.
- Design levels for this style of play.
- Add acceleration + deceleration to player, for better game feel.
- On account of this change and the above change, create new side-view ship graphics which work well for the new camera + movement.
- Limit player magazine size. Once the mag is empty, the player will have to wait for their gun to reload.
- Enemy placement will have to account for this.
- Custom title screen layout, probably with an extra "PRESS START" page for retro aesthetic.
- UI pages are pretty nice. Can't believe I never seriously considered a system like that for my own work.
- If there's time, at least one custom music track, ideally two.
- If there's time, custom sound effects.
